Day by Day

Birth

Gregor Aug 10, 2008

The Chinese say it is a very auspicious day, but I'm not Chinese. Certainly looks good: 08/08/08. Has a nice ring, don't you think? Born at 4:12 am, (factors of 8) so must be even more auspicious, don't you think?

Well, nothing easy is worth having they say, right? So this must be very worth having. In spite of a hole between the left and right ventricles in her heart and a case of Pulmonary Valve Stenosis, Arrowen has muscled her way through to planet Earth.

After baffling the cardiologist with her seeming ability to laugh at so-called heart defects she settled into her first day on Earth inside an incubator. No, not that bad, breathing by herself, but having a little trouble with taking a bottle so she was put on a feeding tube.

Cute as a button and pulling a face somewhere between a scowl and quizzical similar to her brother on his first day, she defintiely looked frail on day one and Nicole and I began to brace ourselves for tragedy...
