Day by Day

One Week Old

Gregor Aug 16, 2008

One week on and not much to report today. Feeding level was increased to 18 ml then 20 ml every three hours, and she got to breastfeed (after her fashion) twice today.

She is improving, not so sure about myself. I find the room to be oppressive. Between the fluorescent lights and what feels like stale air I find myself either headachy or ready to fall asleep after an hour or so. But I can't really complain as I am able to go outside and get some air.

Arrowen was up and awake for quite a while today, so managed to get some open-eyed pix. She is also finding her voice and making it known that she doesn't really like the IV and tube. She tried to pull the feeding tube out of her mouth today. If it were within her capability I am quite sure she would be over the wall so to speak. As I write this I hear Public Enemy playing in my mental stereo...

I can see her tiger spirit shining through. RAWR!! I'm HERE!!! RAWR!!! She does hate that tube. Good thing it came out. Now she gets munchies the good old fashioned way...WITH MOM!! WOOO!! Mom's RULE! Dad's do too, but not till about age 2. I believe with hope and faith and strength enough of Tiger Spirit, Arrowen will get to see that moment with her Daddy there, right beside her. SHE IS SO CUTE!!!
