The day we have been waiting and waiting for has finally arrived: Arrowen came home with us about 15 minutes ago. She is now crashed out on the couch enjoying a bit of free-limb sleep. However, it was not as simple as we thought as before we could take her home we had to pass one final test.
The test consisted of us not going mental waiting around to be escorted from the NICU. What seemed like a pointless half hour (we were told) wait to have someone take us to the exit to get a taxi turned into an hour which was finally only ended by an orderly just happening to come by the NICU. Then we had to wait while the nurse wrapped Arrowen up for the biting cold of Bangkok: current temp 86 degrees with the dew point making it 'feel like' 97 according to my computer. When there was no possible way for her to be wrapped any tighter, Nicole picked her up, I grabbed the bags and the orderly followed us out the door and for a further thirty feet down the hallway and then gave up and walked off to do her job.
So, she is home and we are very very happy. Thanks to everyone who has been there for us over the past three weeks. We really appreciate it.
