Arrowen has been home now for four days and she is settling in just fine. She is awake a lot more than it seemed she was at the hospital. That is probably because she is now getting attention whenever she is awake. We are also seeing that she is definitely processing information, putting things together, and trying to work that to her advantage. She is very intent on watching the feeding procedure, seemingly making sure we are not ripping her off on her full 40 ml meal.
It would seem she may have a hearing problem. Hard to say though as sometimes it seems she reacts to sounds, but mostly she seems unaware. This is in sharp contrast to her visual tracking and concentration.
I built a splint for her clubfoot to keep it from curling in and try to push the various parts toward where they need to be. We want to get her bulked up a bit before we take her back for her next cast, so in the meantime it is best to at least be keeping the foot from getting worse. It doesn't seem to be bothering her and, since this is the third day with it on, I am able to move the foot slightly more toward where it should be each day when I adjust the splint.
She is very well-behaved and only gets vocal when she is either hungry or phlegmy. It seems that her salivary glands go into overdrive when mealtime approaches and that leaves her sounding snuffly when her throat gets overrun with mucus.
